| I asked myself every spring, should I breed Foxie ? She is my main trail mare, was 14 when she came to the Lazy K Bar and had never had a foal. Finally, last spring, when Foxie was 18 years old, I pulled the trigger. I knew if I didn't breed her that spring I would never want to take the chance as she got older. I also understood an 18 year old maiden may have trouble getting in foal and staying in foal. Boy am I glad I went for it ! Foxie settled first cycle I bred her and had a completely uneventful pregnancy that ended in a picture perfect, easy delivery. She is a complete natural at mothering, seemed to know exactly what to do with her little bundle, and she has been very relaxed and not a bit overprotective from right after the delivery. *Top Shelf* is just that, the best. This page is day one through his first week and a half. Can you tell I am smitten with him ! He comes running when I call him (at one week old !) and loves human contact. Check back, I am sure he will have many pages devoted to his silly antics ! |
